Easter Bank Holiday

Last weekend, in the United Kingdom, we had a bank holiday weekend. This essentially means we had a 4 day weekend instead of a 2 day so most people got Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday off. This always occurs around Easter time and as Easter fell quite late this year, so did the bank holiday.

This year, I managed to get the whole bank holiday off. This is one of the pros of choosing your own hours (a blog post can be done on this if its wanted) and this was my first one off in about three years. I certainly took advantage of having the whole bank holiday off by pampering myself and getting outside. The whole weekend was so lovely and we had amazing weather to boot. Where I live, we reached 24 degrees Celsius on all four of those days, it was heaven! I had done four 13 hour shifts in a row so I was definitely ready to just relax for a bit.

On the Friday, my boyfriend and I, just relaxed all day. He’s off work at the minute as he’s injured himself so we decided to just have a chill day. We literally spent all day watching movies on Netflix and cuddled up in bed. We ordered dominos and didn’t really move from our position. It was heaven and just what I needed.

Saturday, I went down to the river. It was such a nice day and I needed to get out so my friend and I decided to go and sit by the river. We took a few drinks with us and just laid on the bank soaking up the sun. I felt like I hadn’t seen her in ages so we took advantage of the nice weather and just laid there all day catching up. We may have walked home a little bit tipsy by the end of that afternoon…oops.

On Sunday, I was invited down to the coast. My boyfriends family were going and they invited me along as well. I adore the coast, it is my happy place. There is just something about the sea and sand that I love. We ventured down to Great Yarmouth for the day and it was so much fun. We spent half the day in the arcades on the 2p machines. We managed to clear one game out of gold plastic buddha’s and another one out of sweets. The rest of the afternoon was spent on the beach. It was such a nice day and I even managed to catch a bit of sun which is extremely rare for me!

Sunday was a really special day for me because that’s when Brendan and I became official. It was perfect and us down to a t. Brendan took me down to the sea’s edge and we just cuddled for a bit before he asked me. To me, it was absolutely perfect and I couldn’t think of anything better as I was in my happy place with one of my favourite people.

After the coast, I also went to visit my grandparents. They live right near the coast and I hadn’t seen them in a while. Brendan and I popped round their for a few hours and just had a massive catch up with them. I adore my grandparents and it really warmed my heart to see them and Brendan getting along.

Monday was another day where we literally did nothing together apart from tidy the flat and then have a nap. To me, it was the most perfect bank holiday and I loved every second of it. How was your bank holiday? Did you do anything nice?
